You are out of school working 40 hours a week with people who may or may not be you same age. Then they are the people you see at work and don't necessarily want to spend 40 hours with outside of work... so... then how do you meet people ? Join a gym, join a club, take up a hobby? Why not put out a personal ad?
The wave of the future and use of technology. Of course you must be careful but you have to be careful if you meet anyone face to face the first time. I did it and the results have been very positive. I have met some very interesting, fun, polite, and intelligent people. I used to be sad that I didn't get e-mail and now, I can't keep up. I am not bragging but it sure was a confidence boost to see that there were many people who could potentially be interested in me, even when I was upfront and honest about what I expected and what I would not do.
So all I can say is go for it. The world has no boundaries now and if you are feeling stuck it is a great way to find people who are most of the time friendly and also just looking to meet someone. Remember it isn't a contract or a long-term committment but just a first step. Just be careful and keep it public. :-)
